Obituary

Cleo “Mammaw” Gwendolyn (Cantrell) Wayman, age 88, of Powell, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born on September 11, 1937, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Leo Alexander Cantrell and Willie Ina (Shearron) Cantrell. Cleo was a member of West End Church of Christ in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Willie Cantrell; husband of 69 years, Larry Elvis Wayman; daughter-in-law, Esther Wayman; brothers, Charles Thomas Cantrell and Kenneth Earl Cantrell; and sisters, Betty Elaine Cantrell, Virginia Lee Roland, and Martha Annette Harris. Cleo is survived by her sons, Barry Wayman (Adrienne), Mike Wayman, and Troy Wayman (Beatriz); brother, Tony Cantrell; grandchildren, Tiffany, Elliott (Amy), Anna, Clint (Sarah), Dalton (Meredith), Sophia, and Ethan Wayman; and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday, July 24, 2026, in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5pm to 7pm and Friday, July 24, 2026, 11am until the hour of service of 12noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Church of Christ in Knoxville, Tennessee, or Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, Tennessee.
