BAKER, Carl F. "Spider", age 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee, on January 1, 1940, to Thomas Harris Baker and Mary Lovell Baker. He was a graduate of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN, with an engineering degree. He worked at State Industries and retired from Vaughn Manufacturing in tool and dye. Spider never met a stranger and loved to talk. He was a member of the Ashland City Church of Christ where he served as a deacon until his health started to deteriorate. Spider served as Youth Director for the Clarksville Highway Church of Christ. He was on the Board of Directors for Youth Encouragement Services in Nashville, TN. He loved to give out candy to the children and always smiled. He loved to visit the sick and was very interested in sports especially girls softball, basketball, football and nascar. He always helped with girls softball. Spider raised ostriches and loved for people to look at the eggs. He was a very loving husband, father and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Baker and Mary Baker; an infant brother, and brother, Jewel Baker; sisters, Frances Hooper and Mai Dimple Methvin. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Baker; daughters, Amy Ferry (Joseph Ferry, Jr.) and Valarie Broadway; sisters, Emilie Levesque, Judy McGowen, and Donna Kay Freeman; grandchildren, Jonathan and Daniel Broadway, and Alan Ferry. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 11am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Cliett Goodpasture and Brother Mike Fox officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 27, 2015, from 2pm to 7pm and on Saturday from 9am until the service hour of 11am.
