Caren Hoge Thornton, 69, of Ashland City departed this life on April 17, 2026, in Nashville.
She was born on January 19, 1957, in Bridgeport, Alabama, to the late Robert J. Hoge III and Vera Ann (Brown) Hoge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Randy Thornton; son, Corey Lee Thornton; and brothers, Robert J. "Bobby" Hoge IV and Richard "Todd" Hoge.
She was a medical assistant at Cheatham Medical Center until the closing of inpatient care. She then worked for Dr. Robert Rhea and Paula Lee NP until retirement. Everyone who knew her understood how deeply she cared for her family and friends. She lived simply and will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind her daughter, Megan Sutton (Shane "Possum"); sister, Carla Coleman; grandchildren, Cloie Sutton (Gavin Smith), Owen Sutton, and Tobie Sutton; great grandchild, Korie Smith; several nieces and nephews and amazing lifelong friends; and her life companion, Jasper.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Cowden Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2026, from 2pm to 7pm and Tuesday from 10am till the service hour of 1pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Whitney Coleman, James McDougal, Adam Hoge, Owen Sutton, Jacob Rigby, Michael Richardson, Stephen Sweeney, A.J. Rigby, and James Thornton.
