Bonnie Alwilda Binkley, age 84, of Ashland City, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Alwilda was born in Ashland City on March 8, 1940, to the late Willard and Clara Bell (Read) Teasley. She attended Lockertsville Schoolhouse and was a 1958 Cheatham County Central High School graduate where she was voted Most Friendliest. After high school, she began working for the Tennessee State Highway and Revenue Departments. Later that same year in August, she married Donald Binkley. After working 10 years with the state, the daily commute and a young child, she was employed by the Ashland City Bank & Trust where she learned every aspect of banking and met many people who became her lifelong friends. A new opportunity was presented to her after many years at the bank and she became administrative assistant to Cheatham County Mayor Linda Fizer and Mayor Bill Orange. She was active in local government and was elected to the Ashland City Council in 2011 representing Ward 2 for seven years and served on the Ashland City Events Committee for two years. She loved Ashland City and Cheatham County and always wanted the best for the community. She is preceded in death by her parents Willard and Clara Bell (Read) Teasley and her husband of 59 years Donald Binkley. She is survived by her daughter, Gina R. Binkley (David McClister); sister-in-law Janie Binkley (Monte Binkley); cousin, Gaylon Harris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at Cheatham County Funeral Home (117 Elizabeth Street). Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Friendship Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashland City. Serving as active pallbearers are Tim Binkley, Greg Hagewood, Adam Harris, Billy Harris, Pat Harris and Mark Stuart. Honorary pallbearers are Janie Empson, Jimmy Gill, Ann Gunn, Amy Harris, Linda Harris, Rick Johnson, Bonnie Hagewood Pierce, Jane Polston, Doris Sanders, Stacey Earle Stuart and Charles Sullivan.
