Betty Jean Sweeney, age 84, 2026, of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. She was born in Williamson County, Tennessee, on July 17, 1942, to the late Joe Milton Holt and Saraphine (Ridge) Holt. Betty worked for The Tennessean as an assistant district manager. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Saraphine Holt; daughter, Ginger Louise Sweeney; and sisters, Mary Frances Holt and Jo Ann Yancy. Betty is survived by her sons, John Thomas Sweeney and Timothy Dale Sweeney (Wanda); daughter, Betty Jo Harrison; grandchildren, Jana Buckles (Basil), Tana Dale Sweeney (Jonathan), and Mary Beth Sweeney (Bryson); and great grandchildren, Mykla, Jasmine, Shawn, Chantel, Avery, and Levi. Her wishes were to be cremated and her remains will later be interred at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee.
