Betty Lou Prater, age 87, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019. She was born in King, North Carolina, on December 28, 1931, to Elmer Lawson and Kate Grace Cox. Betty Lou worked as an accountant for Midway Supply and for the Cheatham County School system. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William "Doug" Prater; sisters, Bertha Chance, Bonnie Mahurin and Barbara Duncan and her half-brother, Burton Cole. She is survived by a sister, Blanche Chaffee; son, John (Carol) Grady; grandchildren, Marla (David) Hoover, Damon (Bri) Grady, Ryan (Veronica) Grady and Chelsea (Bryce) Samuelson; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Sophie Hoover. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Felts Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10th, from 4pm to 8pm and on Wednesday, September 11th, from 12pm until service hour of 1pm. Serving as pallbearers will be friends and family.
