Betty Diane Gibbs January 22, 1955 – September 25, 2026

Betty Diane Gibbs, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family at home in Ashland City, TN. Betty leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, hard work, and most importantly, love that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Betty was a woman who could truly do it all—a jack of many trades who was never afraid of hard work. She spent many years working alongside her mother and father in logging, learning the value of determination, perseverance, and family. Later in life, she worked alongside her beloved husband, Gary, for many years doing construction. Whatever needed to be done, Betty could be counted on to figure it out and get the job done.

But while Betty was hardworking, her greatest work was loving and caring for her family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was cooking for the people she loved. There was something special about Betty's cooking, but even more special was knowing that every meal came from a heart that wanted to make sure everyone was fed, cared for, and happy. She had a way of making people feel at home, and her kitchen was often a place where memories were made.

Betty loved crafting, gardening, couponing, and yard sales. For many years, she enjoyed searching for a good bargain, tending to her garden, and finding treasures at yard sales. She loved these simple pleasures, but what she loved most was sharing her time and her life with the people around her.

Betty was the kind of person who would take care of everyone else before ever thinking of herself. She gave her love freely, often without asking for anything in return. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and her greatest source of happiness.

Betty was preceded in death by grandparents Sam Harper, Georgia Harper, Mary Davis, her mother, Alma Elizabeth “Liz” Davis, her father, William Walter “Baldy” Davis, and her sister, Wanda Faye Dixon.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of 54 years, Gary “Bimbo” Gibbs, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, memories, hard work, and a family.

She is also survived by her daughter, Tomorrow Peden (Wayne); her honorary daughter, Mary Archey (Johnny); her grandchildren, Dakota Peden (Crystal), Destany Cherry (Tyler), Johnathon Peden (Katie), and Jenna Peden (Taylor); and her great-grandchildren, Daisy Peden, Diesel Peden, Drake Peden, William Peden, Jaxs Davis, Lucas Davis, and Knox Cherry.

Betty is also survived by her sister, Camille Gilmer, and her beloved fur baby, Binky.

Pallbearers are Wayne Peden, Dakota Peden, Johnathon Peden, Tyler Cherry, Taylor Davis, Johnny Archey, Bradley Basham, and Aaron Schrader. Honorary pallbearers are Diesel Peden, Drake Peden, and William Peden.

Though Betty is no longer here to cook another meal, tend another garden, search for another bargain, or take care of the people she loved, the love she gave them will never disappear. It lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends—in the recipes she shared, the lessons she taught, the memories she created, and the countless ways she made sure everyone around her was taken care of.

Her hands may be still, but the love she put into everything she did will continue through generations.

Betty was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed. Her family will carry her with them always, until the day they meet again.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Bart Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Gibbs Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2026, from 12noon to 7pm and Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 9am until the service hour of 1pm.
