Beatrice "Nanny B" Barnes Thornton, age 88, passed away at St. Thomas MidTown in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 26, 2019. Beatrice was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 7, 1931, to the late Sanford J. Barnes and Mattie Pearl Barnes. She was a retired cafeteria manager for Metro Davidson County. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Thornton; son, Ronny Thornton; brother, Lawrence Barnes; sister, Annie Pearl Cargile; grandsons, Jason, Corey and Josh Thornton; and great-granddaughter, Karsyn Thornton. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Donnie Thornton and Randy (Caren) Thornton; daughter, Montie (Mike) Langley; daughter-in-law, Ronda Thornton; grandchildren, Melissa (Bubba) Langley-Eslick, Amy (Billy) Harris, Andy (Misty) Langley, Amanda (Michael) Bateman, James (Cassie) Thornton, Megan (Shane) Sutton; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Monday, September 30th at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with John Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Cowden Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday, September 29th, from 12noon until 7pm and on Monday, September 30th, from 9am until service hour of 1pm. Serving as active pallbearers will be Andy Langley, James Thornton, Kevin Eslick, Billy Harris, Bubba Eslick and Shane Sutton. Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Sutton, A.J.
