Barbara Yvonne Stinnett was born on July 31. 1931 and died on August 5, 2025. She was married to Judge Bill Stinnett for over 70 years until his death in January, 2025. She is survived by daughters Lynn Williams (Don) and Vicki Stinnett of Nashville, and son, James William (Jim) Stinnett III (Peggy) of Ashland City, TN, grandchildren Christopher Andrew Williams and Laura Lynn Williams, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernette Wolfe and William H. Shirk, and brother Bill Shirk.
Yvonne Stinnett was born in Dayton, OH and raised in Nashville TN, where she attended TarBox School and West High School. She raised her family in Charlotte Park before moving to Ashland City in 1969. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Scottsboro Baptist Church. A past President of Friends of Cheatham County Library, volunteered for many years tutoring for Nashville Adult Literacy Council and delivered Meals on Wheels for countless years in her community.
She was President of the Senior Citizen's Advisory Council in Ashland City and served on the Cheatham County Board of Equalization, serving as Secretary, for over 20 years. She always went above and beyond to make sure people felt heard, valued, and treated fairly. She was a passionate voter and Three Star Letter to the Editor Tennessean contributor.
Her funeral will be on Friday, August 8, at 3:00 pm with Brother Leon Edwards officiating. Her family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. on Friday until 3:00 pm.
