Obituary

BARBARA ANN SPARKS, age 82, passed away on April 2, 2018, at St. Thomas West in Nashville, Tennessee. Barbara was born in Lumber City, Georgia, on July 26, 1935, to the late Mack Horace Brewer and Rosanna Livingston Brewer. She attended Mitchell County High School in Camilla, GA where she was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. Barbara met her loving husband Garry Evens Sparks in Albany, GA and they were married in 1956. She thoroughly enjoyed being a military wife and traveling around the country before settling down in Ashland City to raise their family. She was very artistic, enjoying canvas oil painting and drawing. Barbara was a great dancer and excellent southern cook. Most of all Barbara loved her family and friends. She was a loving wife and mother and an adoring grandmother. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Brian Paul Linerode; brothers, Gordon Oliver Brewer, Louis Horace Brewer, Eugene Marshall Brewer, and Howard Dean Brewer; sisters, Mary Catherine Pierce, Faye Jerrell Brewer, and June Maxine Clay. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Garry Evens Sparks of Ashland City, TN; three daughters, Cynthia Marie (Don) Reid of Brentwood, TN, Sandra Lee Linerode of Estill Springs, TN, and Kimberly Ann (Jason) West of Franklin, TN; and 5 grandchildren, Lindsey Grace Linerode, Brian Brooks Linerode, Anne Marie West, Samuel Keck West, and John "Jack" Gary West. Funeral service will be Monday, April 9, 2018, at 11am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Creed officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, April 8th from 1pm to 5pm and on Monday before the service from 10am until service hour of 11am. Serving as pallbearers are Brooks Linerode, Sam West, Jack West, Gene Smith, Kevin Clay, Gary Joseph, and Jimmy Joseph. Honorary pallbearers Lydia's Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, Ashland City, TN 37015.
