Obituary

Arthur "Don" (Curly) Simmons, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at The Residence at Alive Hospice surrounded by his family. Don was born in Ashland City, Tennessee, on September 12, 1933, to the late Hugh Gene Simmons and Annie Margaret Brizendine Simmons. Don was a United States Navy Veteran and served on the USS Eldorado The Admiral Ship, and he was a decorated war hero with 3 medals. He was a retired master plumber for Textron and was a member of the Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hugh Gene Simmons, Jr., Frank Suell Simmons, James Hardin Simmons, and Jerry Wendell Simmons; sister, Shirley Sue Simmons Lawrence; brother-in-law, Roger Barnicle; beloved special nephew, Tommy Newman, and beloved pet, Pete. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Bracey Simmons; brother, Murray Glenn Simmons; sisters, Patricia Ann Simmons Barnicle and Gayle Simmons (Archie) Adams. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Shiloh Hackett officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, March 20th from 10am until the service hour of 1. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory can be made to Bethlehem FWB Church P.O.
