Ada Roseann (Bagwell) Majors was born May 4, 1921 to Milton Bagwell and Margaret "Maggie" Shelby-Teasley in Mt. Herman, TN. She was the eleventh of twelve children: Oscar, James, Cornelia, Roy, Johnny, Delia, Augusta, Delliah, Lena, Maggie, and Milton Jr. She grew up in Clarksville TN, Montgomery County where she attended school. Soon after, she exchanged vows with Ross Majors (RM) on January 27, 1943 and they remained married for 43 wonderful years until his death.
Ada Roseann Bagwell-Majors 98 departed this life on July 13th surrounded by family. Mrs. Majors lived in the same home for approximately 75 years. There she and RM raised children and many grandchildren. In addition to raising their family, Mrs. Ada performed numerous domestic duties as a homemaker within the city.
Mrs. Majors was a dedicated member and served on the usher board at St. Paul AME church on Turner Street. In her spare time, she loved quilting, crocheting, embroidering, listening to music and hosting family gatherings. She also enjoyed watching soap operas on television.
Mrs. Ada Majors was preceded in death by her husband Ross Manuel Majors Jr; daughter, Thelma Jean; grandsons Scottie Foston and Thomas Carney Jr; and all of her siblings. She sadly leaves behind four daughters -Wilma Foston, Helen Smith, Gail Whitsey and Quintine (Thomas) Carney; 1 son - Chester Majors; ten grandchildren: Kathy & Vivian Foston, Brenda (Roosevelt) Manning, Monica (Vince) Malone, Kaye & Judy Smith, Kristopher & Michael Whitsey, Latonya Carney and Trevor Majors; two sister-in-laws: Novella Jones (Indianapolis IN) and Eloise Collier (Detroit, MI); fourteen great grandchildren: Martez, Trevonne, K'tora, Keyira, Kelsey, Tremaine, Mikayla, Ronald, Cameron, Vincent, Madelyn, Colton, Conner and Mardarius; eight great-great grandchildren; Jaylen, Torey, Kaniyah, Rodrik, Aspen, Braxten, Journie, Tyrese and K'lani; one devoted niece, Ernestine Dowlen; special friends: Marietta Vicks Hampton, Rev. Anthony Thomas, Jan Beard and Lisa McClain, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 20,2019 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham, LLC, in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2019 from 2pm until 7pm and Saturday, July 20th, from 11am until the service hour of 12 noon.
